How do PCL threads work
Polycaprolactone (PCL) is a synthetic polymer that completely dissolves in the tissue after a certain period of time. The breakdown time of polycaprolactone is longer than in the case of PDO or PLLA. The idea of using PCL threads in aesthetic treatments was born in Korea. The treatment involves inserting PCL threads under the skin (in selected areas) using a very thin needle. After insertion, the needle is removed and a dressing is applied to the skin. The treatment used creates a specific scaffold around which the body starts the process of neocollagenesis (production of new collagen fibers), stimulating fibroblasts to increase the synthesis of elastin and the synthesis of endogenous hyaluronic acid.
